With this mix, baking your own apple pie becomes wonderfully simple. The dough is easy to prepare and forms the ideal base for a classic apple pie with warm flavours of apple, cinnamon and raisins.
What you need:
– 500 g apple pie mix
– 175 g butter
– Optional: 1 egg
– 1 kg tart apples (e.g. Goudreinet)
– 50 g raisins
– Cinnamon and sugar to taste
Instructions:
Combine the apple pie mix with the butter (and optional egg) and knead into a smooth dough.
Line a greased 26 cm baking tin with 2/3 of the dough.
Mix the diced apples with raisins, cinnamon and sugar, and spread over the base.
Roll the remaining dough into strips and place them in a lattice pattern over the filling.
Bake the pie in a preheated oven at 165°C (fan 160°C) for about 60 minutes.
Tip for extra flavour: Spread a thin layer of almond paste on the base for an even richer taste.
